This is a new theory about the ten supreme knowledges- normally known among the worshippers of Shakti as DasaMahavidya. In ancient time this 10 Devis are considered to be the avatars of the supreme goddess Chandi. In the famous Durga Saptasati,  the 10th chapter- Shumbha, the demon says to the Goddess- you are fighting with the aide of numorous devis while i am fighting alone- this is not fair.And the Devi replies - Ekaibaham jagattatre dwitiya ka mamapara,pashyata dusta mayeba vishantyo madvibhutaya-I only prevail in this whole universe,there is none other than me. o, you vile one, see these goddesses enter into my own self.
